Farmhouse Benedetti

Love for animals, passion for nature and dedication to their work are these ingredients of the Benedetti family recipe that has been hosting hospitality in the green heart of Umbria for years.

The farmhouse Benedetti, at the door of Spello, is easily reached from the main roads. It rises in the valley overlooking the most important medieval villages of Umbria: Assisi, Spoleto, Montefalco, Bevagna, Foligno, Cannara.

The farmhouse consists of four rooms: all with private entrance, private outdoor space, bathroom, heating, air conditioning, fridge, safe, hair dryer and coffee-tea maker. Two apartments are two-roomed with kitchen-living room, equipped with everything you need for six people and with the same room as the others.

Outside there is an ample park with swimming pool with jacuzzi, tennis court and soccer field, children's playground, barbecue and a small show of vintage farming tools. At about five km we also have a open and covered field with riding school where you can receive work lessons, even for beginners, or walks in the surrounding hiking trails, horses can be hired on request.

Rooms and Apartments

Farmhouse Benedetti offers hospitality in four rooms and two apartments, as well as tasting your palate with the great recipes of the Restaurant.

The rooms are named: Narciso, Tulipano, Lillà e Rosa.

All are equipped with a bathroom with shower, hairdryer, satellite TV, minibar, safe, air conditioning and autonomous heating. They are located on the ground floor and have a private outdoor area with table and chairs.

The apartments are named "Ciclamino" (located on the ground floor) and "Margherita" (located on the first floor).

Both are composed of: Living room with kitchenette and sofa bed, double bedroom, bathroom with shower, and are equipped with satellite TV, safe, hairdryer, air conditioning and autonomous heating, private outdoor space.

Restaurant

The restaurant of our farmhouse is only for farmhouse guests and is not open to outsiders. For customers of the farmhouse the restaurant will be open after the month of June.

The philosophy of our restaurant is to introduce dishes that have disappeared from our tables, prepared with genuine raw material from our vegetable garden and our farms.

Some examples: Typical Umbrian Salami with a cake on the text, head cup with vinegar and onion, beans with cotiche, chickpea with rosemary, homemade noodles with chard or mushrooms, homemade dumplings with castrated sauce or Sagrantino, rucola pesto, polenta with sausage, lamb chop, tripe of roman calf, vaccine tail, calfskin bacon, baked herb on the wood-burning oven, roast goose, grilled meat etc.

OUR TYPICAL PRODUCTS
Oil
Extra virgin olive oil produced by our olive cultivars "Moraiolo", "Leccino" and "Frantoiano" in the hills of Bevagna and the cultivar "Dolce d'Agogia" in our company of Passignano sul Trasimeno.

Wine
• Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG produced with 100% grapes of the native Sagrantino grape varieties of the area
• Red Montefalco DOC produced with Sangiovese Merlot and Sagrantino grapes
• Red Umbria IGT ready-to-drink wine produced with Sangiovese, Merlot and Sagrantino grapes
• Grechetto Colli Martani DOC produced with 100% grapes of the native Grechetto variety
• White Umbria IGT produced with Trebbiano Toscano, Trebbiano Spoletino and Grechetto grapes

Lentils
The typical lentils of our region are cultivated in Spello's land at the foot of Mount Subasio.

OUR BREEDING
Bovines
We assimilate in our company Valtopina cattle of Maremma breed and its crosses, we feed animals with the products of our land, hay, straw, corn, barley and beans; this allows the animal to grow slowly and gives the most savory meats by rediscovering the flavors that have just disappeared.

Sheep
Our little flock, well visible in the agritourism, is made up of sheep of the main Italian breeds, grazing in the triticale and fed by hay and cereal.

Poultry
Poultry is our main activity, we alleviate about 80,000 turkeys per year and about 24,000 reproductive hens for the production of eggs for incubation for the production of chicks.

OUR CROPS
Vineyard
Innovation and tradition are the guidelines of our vineyard, it is realized and cultivated following the most modern cultivation techniques, but with an eye always addressed to ancient practices handed down together with the passion from our ancestors. In it we cultivate ancient varieties such as "Sagrantino" and "Grechetto" but also recent varieties of "Merlot" and "Sangiovese".

Olive grove
Our olive groves are located in the most beautiful areas of Umbria:
• in the hills of Bevagna we produce our "Verdone" oil with intense green color obtained from the characteristic cultivars of the area: "Moraiolo", "Leccino" and "Frantoiano";
• on the hills surrounding Lake Trasimeno, we produce our "Giallone" obtained from our century-old olives of the "Dolce d'Agogia" variety, a typical local cultivar spread only in that restricted area.

Arable crops
Our plain soils are mainly cultivated for the production of fodder and grain to feed our animals, so we obtain honey from beans, beans, corn and barley that give the particular flavor to our meat. In addition to these we grow lentils and spelled that we then use to prepare tasty dishes for our restaurant.

OUR ORT
The engine of our restaurant is the vegetable garden, from which we harvest vegetables and seasonal fruits every day, which then become succulent dishes or jams that we propose to the table certain of their genuineness.

Umbria and Spello

Umbria, defined as the "green and holy" region, refers to an image of peace and tranquility between landscapes marked by the medieval imprint. Dominated by the high hill, it presents various tourist and cultural-historical routes and itineraries each year by many visitors.
Just two kilometers from our farm you can visit Spello, an ancient hilltop village that preserves more than any other Umbrian site of traces of the Roman presence that were later included in the medieval period.

The masterpiece of folk handwriting is the Infiorate of the Corpus Domini: after a long and intense work, they are prepared in one night of the floral compositions that will serve as a frame for the procession.

Just a few minutes from Spello you can visit Bevagna, a village important for its waterways, which are Roman times but of a medieval structure. Montefalco for the beautiful panorama is known as the "railing of Umbria".
Within a few minutes you can reach such centers as, Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto, Todi, cities that, in addition to their cultural and historical heritage, are internationally renowned events and festivals.

Farmhouse Benedetti is located at a strategic point at the foot of the Spello hill. Just arrived we were greeted by the warm hospitality of the owners, who prepared us a welcome aperitif as the staff prepared our room. Maximum cordiality and great welcome for dinner and for breakfast the next day. The housekeeper also prepared the vegetable cake for the baby. We also tasted an excellent roast made on smoked meat cuts. Great house wine, plenty of breakfast. Even the room they gave was very comfortable and absolutely clean. The kid also had fun and we had a really good weekend.
